  • i really hate when i am trying to get the words to flow correctly to get across what im trying to say
I have a heavy heart tonight
My Dear Cousin Marcie who is only 25 is suffering with a cancer, it is growing very rapidly- she has started Chemo but she is in a lot of pain- my heart goes out to her, my heart breaks for her, i remember growing up with her- she was also born with spinal bifida- i always stop and ask why her, didn’t she have enough growing up- she could never run and play like all of us did, she was confined to leg braces, crutches and a wheel chair- she has had so many surgeries thru out her short life…
It is a good thing we cant just call to Heaven on a telephone because people would have the line worn out just by asking questions. My heart breaks for her mother and father- her older sister also has MS- she has a bad case of it.
The Whole family is upset as they would be. Not sure where to turn or what to do, so a close friend and i are having a benefit concert/silent auction to raise money to help them get her to apts etc, the closest hospital is 2 hours away and she goes once a week.  We are hosting it on Nov 24, if any of you feel inclined to give a donation, email me please: terrigrothe@gmail.com or comment here

This has been an awesome weekend.
Friday- I turned 30- First phone call came at 7:15 am- i wanted to slap her but seeing as she is my mother, i figured id suck it up and talk to her, after we got done talking, i got Brooke up for school, i was off today so we slept an extra hour when im off.
Got her off to school and i went back to bed, because i could ;p I slept off and on til 11:30- yes i am a person who prefers day time sleep to night time sleep.
Once up i checked some blogs out, checked facebook, email and twitter, decided i wanted chocolate for breakfast and because it was my birthday, i didnt feel guilty at all, husband gave me my favorite ones, these chocolates are amazing.

I decided i would do some laundry because birthday or not, laundry needed to be done. Brooke needed me to come to school and bring her saxophone home wor her, bc she finds it very heavy and so do i.
I took a shower when we got home to get ready for birthday dinner, we went to Hilltop bar and beverage, i wasnt impressed with my food, but it was nice to be surrounded by people who are important to me, we had 14 people show, they got me balloons and cake for dessert after dinner, then we did presents and i am so spoiled, here are some

    Cake off course

some presents…candle, tupperware( personal rice maker, i love it, choc, friends thing, skirt

Mel( my adopted sister) , Tim and Olivia were also there for dinner, she gave me a huge box full of presents, there were 30 items in there, each individually wrapped and numbered, she wants me to open one a day for next 30 days. The one i could open today was a notebook- so i can record my next 30 days.

    (the 30 presents)

I had a great birthday with my friends and family.

The first present today was a notebook to document the next 30 days with :

    Here it is

I cannot wait to open all 30 days :) Each day i will share a photo of that day’s gift

Brooke has been asking to take the guest room for her room, so we did it- i dunno why she wanted to switch but she did like her room.

Hung out with my amazing husband after that was all done, he is such an amazing husband. I am blessed.

Saturday: as usual we ran errands… we are such procrastinators- we spend most of the day sitting around, hanging out and doing nothing- so just before 3 we went to super store for groceries, also ate lunch there because we did’nt have any before going- Never Go Shopping On An Empty Belly:p

We then went to Costco( like Sam’s club), bought our first ever membership for Costco, i am was a big anti costco shopper, now i am all about it, i also went with 10 days meal planned, first time to ever do this and i am hoping it works well.

Brooke has a project at school- “Rock Band” so she needed some supplies for that, so we went to Dollarama ( like dollar tree, except Dollar Tree is much better), came home, our friend Faith came over for dinner and i made nachos, she also gave me a sweet Birthday card, such a sweet girl. I am so blessed to be her friend.

Made brownies, did laundry and met my new friend Michelle - she also re-decorated my blog after i had it all messed up, thanks so much Michelle for coming to my rescue.  She is new to blogging as well, so nice of her to help me out.  Blogging has allowed me to meet so many awesome people. Go by her blog and say hi to her.

    Day 2 present was:

    Sunday

As usual we had sunday school- i love our church more and more every day. Everyone is so nice and friendly there and our pastor is an amazing speaker. 2 of the kids from bible school came for lunch and to do laundry, they are sweet kids, I took my sunday afternoon nap and oh did it ever feel good. My hair did exactly what i wanted it to do today, i love good hair days.

Here is Brooke and i today :

Sunday PM- back to church- yeah we go to church 2 x on Sundays, not a lot of people do anymore and they dont do it back home anymore, but i love it, so refreshing to go 2x on sundays.

After Service we ended up going to Wendy’s- its what people do here, they go out to eat on sunday nights, i didnt eat anything but had a cold diet coke( not as good as pepsi but ok )

Now i am home with lunches packed, clothes picked out, laundry going and ready to face another week.

    Today’s gift was:

When they come to visit im gonna get Olivia to help me get her momma.

    Have a great week

  • I hate to admit this but….
    I am HOMESICK
    It hit me hard today
I have never been away from home for a Thanksgiving, yet today we didnt get my mom’s turkey dinner, we , had my aunts, it was good and almost like mom’s.
We have been left home (Newfoundland) 3 months on the 21st
it seems like forever ago, we now live in Fredericton, NB
We do plan to go home for Christmas but not until Dec 20th- it seems to far away yet
    Life here is so good
we are happier then we ever have been back home
but the way i miss my family today, really sucks.
Brooke and her best friend talked tonight, they miss each other
Brooke cried as well, she said she dont want to ever go back to NL but she misses her friends
Life without family is hard, my aunt is only 1 1/2 hrs away but it isnt my mom
they look alike, cook alike, but are very different.
What have you done to relieve home sickness if you ever had it

  • Two Years

So two years ago today I had the scariest thing ever…

MY LUNG SURGERY to remove a 4 cm cyst that was continuously growing – thankful today for my husband who was beside me all the way, thru sickness and in health- he was there, he never left my side at all. My beautiful daughter who always said she loved me and she was praying for me, my amazing family who was there from the time I was diagnosed with leukemia (even though we later found out it wasn’t) an amazing group of nurses, an absolutely amazing and knowledgeable surgeon who was not only a doctor but she actually cares about her patients, her receptionist makes calls to her patients to see how they are doing. Thank you to all of you for your love and prayers . When my family gathered to pray with me before i went into OR, i felt such a peace and i knew it was gonna be ok, the surgery lasted 12 hours, i dont remember much the day after, but then slowly but surely i came around, got moved from ICU to my own private room, then i was surrounded by friends and family. I am so blessed to know so many people cared about me, my room was like a beautiful floower garden, i had flowers every where…
It means a lot to me to have so many people who care

I feel so blessed to have made it thru this time of my life its been 2 years and all is well.
